Basic components

The definitive of pigging is: “Sending a tight-fitting projectile through a pipeline under high pressure to push out residual product.”

Each pigging system consists of a number of basic components that enable the pigging of piping. We can supply these components as separate parts or as a composite system. To facilitate the automation of complex product recovery systems, we recommend using our functional design service.

DESIGN AND ADVICE

A good and reliable product recovery system starts with a good analysis of the piping and understanding of the process. The analysis and design process of a pigging system is the most crucial part of any project. For this reason, we provide a high quality and personalized pigging system design services.

This guarantees the success of your project and ensures that the systems offered work as effectively, efficiently and safely as possible. Correctly designing a safe pigging system involves more than installing a sending station and receiving station.

SEND STATION AND RECEIPT STATIONS

Any product recovery system must be able to safely, reliably and effectively introduce and remove the pig from the production process. The transmitting and receiving stations are designed to accomplish this. Depending on the process and product, different sending and receiving station designs are available. Each type of station consists of a variety of specialized valves, solenoids, uniquely designed piping and other components to enable efficient and reliable operation of the system.

PIGS AND PIG DETECTION

Our pigs are specially designed for highly effective, reliable and efficient product recovery in pipelines. The wear rings are robust, but easy to replace. Pig bodies are made of PP or PA. Each body is fitted with one or more fixed magnets to enable detection. Pigs are available in all pipework standard sizes from DN12 to DN 300 (including the inch variants)

The pig detection system is an essential part of a product recovery system. Typically, the detectors are located close to launch and receiving stations to ensure efficient, safe and reliable operation of the system. Signals from the detectors can be used to start or stop process sequences.

Features of the pigs

They can be detected via multiple magnets;

The wear rings are robust, but easy to replace;

Pig bodies are made of PP or PA

Available in sizes DN10 to DN300 and variations thereof;

The pig can be steered forwards and backwards through the pipework without any problems;

Our pigs can navigate 1.5D turns and larger.

VALVES

A piggable valve is a valve that in the open position has a free passage without obstructions or obstructions. A pig can therefore pass these valves without any problems in order to recover the liquid in the longest possible pipeline route. In addition to piggable valves, non-piggable valves are also crucial for the proper functioning of pigging systems.

The most common valves in Product recovery systems are

BBZPPG piggable stop valves

BBZPPG Pigstops

2- or 3-way piggable ball valves (with or without chamber CIP)

Stop and diverter valves

Butterfly valves

FUNCTIONAL DESIGN

Automating a pigging system, no matter how simple or complex, increases the process speed, productivity, efficiency and safety of the system. To simplify the automation of a product recovery system, “Functional Design” instructions and full-service automation and commissioning services are available.
